Gel Nails: My Experience

Last week I was able to set time aside from my busy schedule and finally go get a pedicure ! Being a mom, working full time, and maintaining a home is a lot of work but, I definitely needed some ME time! I originally went for my pedicure but opted in instead to do a gel manicure and pedicure (lord knows I deserved it).  I do strongly suggest that you set an appointment up even though a lot of places do accept walk-ins.  But you would get faster service with an appointment.  I sat down on a "pamper" chair and I was sooo relaxed ! It was actually my first time getting gel nails and my first time every doing a pedicure!

I have been totally loving orange colors lately so I opted for this muted orange color.  I have gotten a lot of compliments on it and the manicurist told me it was a good choice :)

       BEFORE AND AFTER SHOT:

If your a mom like me it is sometimes hard to have time for yourself and one of the things that I hated was always having to retouch my manicure nailpolish after washing dishes, taking a shower, etc.  Having this gel nailpolish has been a miracle because I no longer have to worry about it.  The only down side to it is that I can not use my wonderful nailpolish collection (which i actually dont mind).

I ended up paying $54 for gel manicure and pedicure and a little foot massage.  Enjoy the pictures of my experience :)

Target deal of the Week

Hello Babes,
Today I wanted to talk about the latest shoe craze !!!! I have been seeing this type of shoe all over the blogger world !

I was able to join the trend and was lucky enough to find these amazing shoes at Target while strolling the isles (target always has the best clearance items).  I could not pass these one strap, red peep toes for $8.

They also had them in black but unfortunately I was blessed with large feet ( I wear a 9 1/2 or 10) and there were none in black in my size (I am thinking about heading to my other 2 Targets near by to try to find them).  And don't you just love the detailing on these ! GORGE !

The original price was $29.99 ! What a great deal !  I also love that the heel is not super tall and are very comfortable to walk in. I plan on styling these on Sunday for my church outfit.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and let me know what your latest clearance item/deal at Target has been !?

Home Decor: Living Room

Hello guys !
I've been in my new home for 3 1/2 months now and I have been decorating slowly because I want all my pieces to be perfect.  I have been focusing on my living room area because that is where we spend our most time.  When we initially moved into the home I had already had a set idea, but....
things didnt work out.  The accent chair that I had originally chosen was HUGE ! A key to take note when shopping for furniture is to actually measure, sit in it and compare it to your other furniture pieces.  The chair I chose was in a window display, hence why I didnt notice how BIG it was.
(pictures taken from my iPhone)

Here is my dad asleep in the chair the day we moved in and you can see how a full grown man fits in it.

This is actually the couch that I picked out.  So you see what I was kind of going for; blues, grays, silver, and pops of neutrals.  I had this awesome image and actually bought both blue chairs.  When they delivered them I was soooooo sad.  My couch is such a cool contemporary/modern pieces with a low back and sleek design (I LOVE MY COUCH !!) But once the chairs were next to it they were not very un-appropriate in size next to the couch.  They were tall and bulky and almost looked like a kings thrown.  So I immediatley  contacted my furniture place (small unique design boutique furniture shop) and let them know I was not satisfied with my blue chairs.  They had a strict not return or refund policy but luckily one of the blue accent chairs had a loose leg and I was able to "exchange" for my new quick pick burnt red chair down below.  I originally wanted blues and grays and VERY modern home, but that quickly changed. ;)  I did however keep the 2nd identical blue chair and have it as an accent chair in my master bedroom (the perfect place for it, i love it !)

It was a very busy week at work and I needed to make a choice on one of my days off in a very short period.  I went in and strolled the boutique and ended up picking this chair last minute.  But...
I grew to love it and THIS was what inspired and what my decor choices revolve around for my dining and living room area.

My couch and chair both have a low/modern/contemporary feel.  So I wanted to go the opposite with decor and make it feel very cozy and comfortable. But most of all very homy.

Here are some key pieces that bring in the room together as a whole.

I LOVE my curtain pattern sooo much ! The only thing I hate about the curtain is that they are very short !!!!!  So I plan to add a piece of fabric to the bottom in the burnt red and make them taller so that i can hang them from a higher point on my wall to make the room appear larger.
They are available at Target and are $25 a panel.

This piece is from Fallas.  Some of you may not be familiar with this store but it is said to be a store that items that were either made wrong are sent to to be sold and you can get some pieces for a very good price.  I got this clock for around $20.

This sunburst mirror is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE and was also purchased at Fallas.  This was only $20 and is actually pretty big in size.  Without this piece in my living room it would not be the same ! This piece MAKES the living room. I love it !

I love how woven textures feel in this space aswell and this woven large tall vase is from target along with those "sticks" ( i dont know what they are called)

The three art pieces are identical pieces that I got at Ross for $16.99 a piece.  They are large pieces and are a good use to fill a large wall space.  However I dont really like them.  I am going to replace them with three large white frames to display some professional family portraits.  The dark brown on the art pieces brings in a darkness to the room which I do not like.
The flowers are on a large square cool wooden vase on my dining table and the vase and flowers are from Target.

This sea urchin is my latest piece and is from the Nate Berkus collection at Target and I love it soooo much !!!  It was $8.49

This red vase was actually from flowers my husband had delivered to me on Valentines Day at work.
I added some fresh oranges in there and every time I see it, it reminds me of that special day. :)

I started to incorpate white pieces because I feel it brings an airy feel to the place. This white frame above is from Target. I love the texture on it, $8.49.  The handsome stud inside is my son A.J. :)
and this vase down below is actually from Lowes believe it or not and actually has a white shorter one that comes in the collection.

This 9 cube shelf is actually for a closet, but who said I couldnt use it for my living room right???
I added some baskets with the woven texture from Target and placed the shelf under my hung TV.

I hope you guys like this post. I really enjoy home decor posts and ideas and I hope you guys do as well.

Manicure Monday: Spring Forward

Todays manicure monday features two very spring like colors.......

Salley Hansen in Mint Sorbet 340 and Julep Charlotte

I wouldn't wear the mint sorbet on all your nails because its such a hard color to work with but none the less it is beautiful ! So therefore I just placed it on my ring finger for an accent nail.

Julep's Charlotte is such a pretty purple.  It is not the lightest color and it isnt a super dark plum either.  I believe this is the perfect purple color.

On a side note: I had to cut my nails :(  Uggh ! It makes me soo sad.  My nails were growing soo well but they were very thing and brittle and kept breaking.  I need a good nail strengthener, any recommendations??

I hope you guys enjoyed this weeks manicure monday ! These colors are perfect for spring and im already ready to start wearing the pastels and bright colors !
until next monday.....

KATIE
